I launched my Interior Design practice in 2004 following a successful career working with distinguished specialists in the design world, including Nina Campbell, for whom I worked for eight years as a senior decorator, where I took on projects in New York and Tel Aviv.
Over time, I have established a wealth of reliable contacts with craftspeople and tradesmen, both in London and the country, with whom I can collaborate to create definitive bespoke pieces. I work with local suppliers where possible and draw upon a workforce from my native Suffolk where I have fulfilled many commissions.
I enjoy client relationships of some longevity, assisting with cyclical re-design and re-decoration and also enjoy taking on projects of any size; be it one room, a whole house, or acting as a design consultant. Commercial work is also undertaken and we are regularly accredited to redesign and produce high-value projects. Though based in Fulham, London; we undertake commissions across the country and further afield.
I have a down-to-earth, flexible approach to decorating and am as happy to re-use and re-arrange favourite furnishings as to completely re-fit a property; helping busy people see the transformation of an area into an elegant and comfortable space.
My personal style could be described as traditional with a modern twist but my clients’ own wishes and priorities are always uppermost.
"Having seen Caroline Fooks at work on a friend's house in Norfolk I knew she had something special to offer. So, when we needed to create a new Directors room for entertaining visiting Directors at Norwich City Football Club we asked Caroline to work alongside our architect and builders at every stage. The results have been outstanding and we receive many compliments from our guests".
"Caroline has been the most complete professional. I really have never worked with anyone better in my 30 years of 'putting houses together'. She has a great sensitivity to a client's needs and is a very good listener - combined with a fantastic understanding of colour, texture and good design. Caroline's instincts and advice were consistently excellent and her attention to detail was outstanding. She is very efficient and I just can't recommend Caroline highly enough."

"Caroline interpreted brilliantly my request for a combination of elegance and comfort for my drawing room and music room and I am delighted by the results. She very quickly understood the style I was looking for and guided me expertly to the right choices without ever making me feel that she was taking decisions on my behalf. She has impeccable taste and I quickly learned to trust her judgement. Although she must take all the credit for the results, she made the project feel like a collaboration and I was extremely impressed by her responsiveness, professionalism and reliability. I have no hesitation in recommending her to others."
House in Suffolk
"We moved to France 3 years ago and had been unable to decide what to do with our drawing room. So from a few photographs and some rough measurements, Caroline transformed the room from something resembling a furniture auction house into a lovely family drawing room. Caroline's ideas, designs, efficiency and above all, patience, know no end. She has a great ability to listen to what you want and feel and then translate it all into fabrics, colours and shapes that you love. Without her we'd never have got anywhere! "
Family House in France
When we bought our house in Norfolk we knew that the renovation was going to be very challenging, in particular we found it difficult to have a vision as to what the end product would look like. Caroline helped us to have confidence in choices we made and gave us great alternatives if she thought something we wanted wasn't going to work. She advised us on everything, beginning with the empty shell of a completely stripped out house to the final soft furnishings and every point in between.
She helped us to source tradesmen and suppliers - nearly always local businesses - and was extremely patient with the length of time it took us to make up our minds when we had to make decisions! At times she would make a suggestion which we weren't to keen on, but more often than not after we had done our own research, we would realise that what she had suggested was the right thing. And she never once said "I told you so"!
Caroline is extremely efficient, always has the answers at her fingertips and always at the end of the phone. To say we couldn't have done it without her is an understatement; she helped us to make our rather blurry vision of what we wanted our home to be a beautiful clear reality.
She really knows her stuff!"
House in Norfolk 2005
We have known Caroline since 2005 when she first helped us to renovate our house.
The project was a lengthy one and unfortunately lulled my husband and I into some kind of false belief that we now knew all there was to know about interior design, soft furnishings, lighting and kitchens. So when we bought our flat in Marylebone in 2009 we thought we could do it ourselves. How wrong we were. Only after we were too far down the line did we realise we needed Caroline to help us, but as so much had already been chosen, her rescue job was actually just damage limitation
Fast-forward to 2017 and we have ripped out the worst laid out kitchen, and completely redecorated our flat ensuring Caroline was our first port of call to keep us in check and make sure there were no more calamities! From day one, she has been included in all our decisions, making sure we saw the latest fabrics to choose our curtains and blinds, she helped us find a new carpet and showed us beautiful paint colours and wallpaper so that our flat now flows from room to room, and with her vast knowledge and seeing results in previous projects, we finally have a new kitchen that we can use efficiently.
I think the lesson we learned was that no matter how small the property, you still want the wow factor, and Caroline has definitely been a major part of delivering this for us. You need someone to guide you through colour schemes, show you new fabrics and styles, particularly someone who has seen them in situ elsewhere. If we had only heeded this advice we probably wouldn’t have ended up installing two kitchens in the space of 8 years and therefore saved money in the long run!
